Breguet's Type XX collection has always been closely tied to aviation, carrying a rich heritage that dates back to the mid-20th century. Today, this legacy is reimagined with modern advancements, while keeping the historical essence intact. Last year, Breguet launched a new generation of Type XX watches, followed by additional models in 2024. Among these, the Breguet Type XX Chronograph 2057 and 2067 equipped with a stainless steel bracelet, and the gold variation of the Chronograph 2067 stand out for their sophisticated design and technology.

The Type XX Chronograph 2057 brings the essence of Breguet’s military aviation heritage to the modern wrist. This model is inspired by the original Type 20, a chronograph designed for the French Air Force between 1955 and 1959.
The 2057 maintains a robust 42 mm steel case, with a thickness of 14.1 mm, making it a substantial yet wearable piece. The fluted bezel, although non-engraved, adds a tactile element that complements the overall aesthetic.
The dial remains simple yet functional, with Arabic numerals coated in mint green luminescent material for easy legibility. It houses a 30-minute totalizer at 3 o’clock, a small seconds subdial at 9 o’clock, and a date window between 4 and 5 o’clock. The chronograph functionality is operated via pushers at 2 and 4 o’clock, with the signature "flyback" mechanism allowing users to reset and restart the chronograph with a single press.
The watch is powered by the self-winding Calibre 728, a movement that offers impressive robustness and accuracy. The 5 Hz frequency, combined with innovations like a silicon balance spring and a 60-hour power reserve, ensures precision under various conditions. It also boasts a water resistance of up to 100 meters, making it as durable as it is precise.

The civilian version of the Type XX, the Chronograph 2067, retains the classic elements of the original design, but incorporates refinements for everyday use. This model also features a 42 mm steel case with a bidirectional fluted bezel, but its dial configuration differs significantly from the 2057.
The 2067 houses a 15-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock, and running seconds at 9 o’clock. Like its military counterpart, the dial is adorned with ivory-colored luminescent Arabic numerals and hands, providing excellent legibility. The flyback chronograph function, coupled with the date window between 4 and 5 o’clock, adds versatility for both professional and casual use.
Equipped with the same self-winding Calibre 728, this model delivers precision and reliability with a 60-hour power reserve. The silicon balance spring, inverted straight-line lever escapement, and the vertical clutch mechanism ensure accurate timing while preventing wear and tear. The watch also comes with two interchangeable straps: One in calfskin leather and the other in NATO fabric, allowing for customization depending on the occasion.

The gold variation of the Type XX Chronograph 2067, released in 2024, adds a touch of luxury to the already iconic design. “After launching a steel model, it was essential to be able to offer a model for our customers who are used to wearing gold,” shares Lionel a Marca, CEO, Breguet, in a press statement.
This model features a 42 mm rose gold case, complemented by a blue ceramic bezel ring – a first for Breguet. “Ceramic is a real newcomer to our collections! I liked its attributes as it’s light, resistant, and scratchproof… This material is ideal for a sporty-chic watch,” a Marca adds. The contrast between the gold case and the blue ceramic ring offers a bold and elegant aesthetic, while the sunburst blue dial adds depth and richness.
Beneath the refined exterior lies the Calibre 728 movement, a self-winding mechanism that powers the watch with the same precision and durability seen in other models. The movement's aesthetics are further enhanced by visible decorations such as snailing, sunburst patterns, and chamfering. Through the sapphire crystal caseback, the blackened gold oscillating weight, shaped like an aircraft wing, can be admired – a nod to the watch’s aviation roots.
This model comes with an alligator leather strap and a NATO strap in midnight blue with white piping. The interchangeable strap system allows for easy adjustments, making it both versatile and practical.
Breguet's Type XX collection continues to evolve, blending historical significance with contemporary design and technology. Whether for professional pilots or watch enthusiasts, these timepieces offer unparalleled precision, functionality, and elegance – ensuring that Breguet’s legacy in the world of aviation-inspired watches remains timeless.
