From home kitchen to Instagram feed and now to The Line at Shangri-La Singapore, Leo Lee introduces a menu of meaningful, family-inspired dishes this September.

For many, food is about flavour. But for Leo Lee (or better known as @mr_agleooleo on Instagram), it has always been about connection. Growing up, the dining table was where his family gathered, celebrated milestones, and found comfort in everyday moments. That sense of togetherness has shaped not only his cooking, but also his unexpected journey from design to digital influence, and now, a collaboration with Shangri-La Singapore.

From now until 30 September 2025, The Line at Shangri-La will spotlight 10 of Leo’s signature dishes alongside its celebrated international buffet. It marks Leo’s first-ever culinary showcase with a hotel, and one that carries deeply personal meaning. “These were recipes I had cooked for my family and shared on my feed, never imagining they would one day be served at a place as iconic as Shangri-La,” Leo says. “It’s proof that even the most personal, homegrown recipes can find a place on a grand stage.”

The menu reflects the milestones of his life. Comforting Pig Trotters Bee Hoon recalls childhood meals, while Chicken & Chinese Sausage Claypot Rice brings the warmth of Lunar New Year to the table. A zesty Thai Vermicelli Salad pays tribute to his wife Rachel Lim’s favourite, while Japanese Seafood Stew evokes memories of travel. Even playful touches are included, like Bruschetta Margherita – a quick, pizza-inspired snack beloved by his children.

Each dish, Leo explains, carries a story of memory, love, or resilience. “Food is more than ingredients and techniques. It’s about honouring the moments that make us who we are,” he says.

The collaboration also represents a meaningful homecoming. Leo’s ties to Shangri-La stretch back decades, from his design work at Island Shangri-La in Hong Kong to his own childhood visits to the Singapore flagship. Now, as a long-time patron turned collaborator, he is bringing his personal journey full circle.

For Shangri-La, the partnership signals a fresh chapter in guest engagement. “This collaboration reflects our commitment to innovation and culinary storytelling,” says Koo Sok Hoon, Director of Marketing at Shangri-La Singapore. “It’s about honouring tradition while embracing contemporary voices that resonate with our audience.”

Leo’s digital presence is built on precisely that resonance. What began as a way to heal after losing his job during COVID, encouraged by Rachel to share his home-cooked meals online, quickly grew into a community drawn to his authenticity and refined storytelling. His approach blends the clean lines of his design background with the warmth of family cooking, resulting in a style that feels both elegant and approachable.

And while his Instagram feed has earned thousands of followers, Leo insists the heart of it all remains unchanged. “If you’re always chasing trends, you lose your own voice. For me, authenticity comes first. I share food the way I truly cook and enjoy it,” he says. “When people sense that honesty, they connect with it.”
