Consider these figures: Research suggests that the projected ASEAN country with the largest population above 65 years old in 2035 is Singapore. Meanwhile, Singapore is also home to 184,000 millionaires, with the number set to rise to 240,000 in 2023. Given this equation, Allium Healthcare finds itself in a very good position.
Allium Healthcare is a luxury nursing home facility that can accommodate the needs of Singapore’s affluent elderly – whether it’s residential care, day care, home care, or caregiver support. At the helm is Bernie Poh, CEO, who has served for 20 years in both the private and healthcare sectors. He shares, “Prior to my current role, I served in various healthcare administration roles, including CEO of Mount Elizabeth Hospital. Currently, I actively contribute in the community as a board member of Fei Yue Community Services and Catholic High School.”
Poh’s role as CEO at Allium Healthcare finds him working closely with a dedicated team to lead the entire operation – from ensuring the highest quality experience to regulatory compliance and achieving business objectives. “Allium Healthcare was established to spark change in the growing aged care landscape,” explains Poh. “As Singapore’s first purpose-built premium residential care model, I was attracted to the pioneering status of making a difference to the quality of aged care in Singapore.”

Can you share your thoughts on the business of ageing, particularly in Singapore and Southeast Asia?
There is tremendous growth and potential presented by the ageing demographic and rising affluence of the baby boom cohort in the region. Singapore excels in the ability to implement and manage sophisticated service delivery and thus, is able to deliver quality exceptional healthcare.
While we focus on the quality of healthcare, there is so much more that we can do to ensure that people age well.
