One of the most exciting parts of my job is travelling to different countries in the region while meeting with business partners. These trips not only enrich my knowledge about the travel industry, but also deepen my understanding of different cultures. This helps me better understand and to empathise with the challenges travellers face and allows me to tailor my advice and insights to be more relevant and helpful.
One trip that has left a deep impression on me is my trip to East Africa, where I had the chance to visit some of the local villages and see the simple homes built from cow dung. The people are warm, happy, and welcoming. Seeing them celebrate their culture with their big families was a humbling experience. It was a reminder to appreciate simple joys, something that can often be overlooked in the hustle and bustle of a metropolis like Singapore.
As more travellers show interest in deep, immersive cultural experiences, some smart tools I recommend for travel planning is Skyscanner’s “Everywhere” search and Savvy Search. Travellers can search Everywhere as a destination, select “Art and Culture” as a filter, and we will rank destinations by price, so travellers can find their preferred type of destination with any budget. Our Savvy Search feature on the Skyscanner app, powered by AI, allows travellers to describe their ideal getaway and offers a curated list of three destinations with more details and images, directing them to Skyscanner’s flight search to compare the best prices.
