James Burton is the Vice President, Asia, of Sunset Hospitality Group.

“My primary focus is Sunset Hospitality Group’s expansion and diversification in Asia, with a portfolio of over 30 brands across luxury hotels, boutique resorts, fine dining establishments, entertainment venues, nightclubs, and beach clubs. My role in the group involves developing and operating new pioneering home-grown concepts in Asia, as well as working with our brand partners to open in new locations. 

As a leading lifestyle hospitality group, we have over 80 venues in 22 countries, including renowned concepts such as METT Hotels & Resorts, Aura Skypool, MOTT 32, Azure Beach, SUSHISAMBA Dubai, Drift Beach Club, DREAM, L’Amo Bistro del Mare, Goldfish, Isola, and more.

We recently launched SUSHISAMBA’s first outlet in the Asia Pacific region, atop the 52nd storey of Capital Tower in Singapore’s central business district. It is a truly stunning locale, with 360-degree views of the skyline and sea, offering an upscale ‘fun-dining’ experience of Japanese, Brazilian, and Peruvian cuisine and culture.

We opened for dinner in July and will open for lunch in September. We’re also gearing up to open our exclusive SAMBA room on the mezzanine floor, which is perfect for more intimate parties, especially post-race revelries in the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix season.

We’re thrilled to bring SUSHISAMBA to Singapore and to the Asia Pacific region, in such an iconic space. SUSHISAMBA is a one-of-a-kind concept that hasn’t been seen and felt in this part of the world, so we’re thrilled to be able to bring that multifaceted experience and the spirit of samba to the diners here.

From when we first viewed the site to witnessing the incredible transformation that we now see, is a proud moment for me. Creating that inimitable vibe of Japanese, Brazilian, and Peruvian influences through the cuisine, design, service, music and entertainment, and seeing it all come together in such a beautiful space, has been very fulfilling. 

When it comes to our projects, I believe that originality is something that will make people take notice – when you bring an original concept to the table, something new to market that’s never been done before, that’s what will turn heads and that’s what we strive to do in our expansion plans at Sunset Hospitality Group.”
