"The 1872 Clipper Tea Co. is one of the agricultural enterprises under the BP de Silva Group and has been under my wing since I graduated from university.
Since young, my family has been involved in the tea industry. However, my love for tea grew as I travelled around the world with my father. My trips to Sri Lanka introduced me to a whole new world of the tea industry. There, I was able to visualize and be personally involved in different parts of our family tea business – from the wonderful fresh tea gardens to the tasting rooms where blends are created.
Today, my deep involvement in The 1872 Clipper Tea Co. has allowed me to fall deeper in love with tea, stay connected to my roots, and spread the appreciation of tea to Singapore and beyond.
My proudest moment would be when I see customers enjoying our tea, especially after the months of hard work put into the opening of our outlets. I’m heartened that more Singaporeans are supporting homegrown brands like ours and despite the challenging circumstances, we are spurred on to work hard.

Our sales spiked late last year, the highest number of sales ever recorded locally and we are extremely grateful for all the support we’ve received. Hence, we will strive to work even harder to bring more awareness and rediscover the tea culture in Singapore.
The tea culture is very diverse, and there are so many different ways to consume tea now. Bubble tea has created a medium that is approachable for many people to experience tea, and be introduced to its beauty. As a speciality tea retailer, we strive to deliver premium tea in various ways and remain as the preferred tea brand amongst tea lovers, as well as appeal to the non-tea and/or new tea drinkers.
Consumers can expect different forms of consuming tea at The 1872 Clipper Tea Co., such as having a cup of exclusive travel-inspired blends to satisfy wanderlust, as well as tea-infused puffs for those with a sweet tooth. As we are always on the lookout for new ideas, consumers can look forward to seeing new ways of consuming tea from us."
