Cartier's Bejewelled Menagerie Lands in Singapore

The final chapter of Cartier’s Nature Sauvage high jewellery collection lands in Singapore.

Panthers, dragons, and birds lounging within floral-patterned fabrics of rattan screens. Zebras and giraffes slyly replacing the traditional motifs on Peranakan tiles. Step into the Former Command House and you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d stumbled into a particularly glamorous game of Where’s Wally – if the Wallys were the entirety of Cartier’s gem-set bestiary.

For a brief spell, the heritage building was transformed into a world unto itself: A seamless fusion of Cartier’s aesthetic codes and Singapore’s own cultural tapestry. As part of a private exhibition, six curated spaces and 10 private viewing rooms brought to life the third and final chapter of Nature Sauvage, Cartier’s high jewellery collection devoted to the untamed and the unexpected. Following previous chapters revealed in Vienna and Shanghai, Cartier chose Singapore to unveil its concluding act, marking 30 years of presence here with typical flourish.

As ever, the maison’s beloved animal motifs take centre stage, but never quite how – or where –  you’d expect. The Pantheres Versatiles, for instance, features a stylised panther coiling with serpentine sensuality toward a 10.10-carat Zambian emerald. As its name suggests, the necklace is transformable, allowing its wearer to adapt the piece depending on mood and neckline. In the Panthere Canopee, the feline reclines on white gold leaves, keeping a possessive paw over a 26.53-carat Ceylon sapphire.

Wildlife isn’t the only recurring element here. The Echina set draws on the sea’s organic forms with coral-studded, melon-cut emeralds nestled among sapphires in a diamond-paved openwork setting. Detach the pendants from the modular earrings and they can reappear as brooches.

Meanwhile, the Alaxoa necklace offers a familiar resonance. With over 400 emeralds and more than 2,600 hours of craftsmanship stitched into its shimmering form, it is a heartfelt tribute to the beadwork and embroidery of Peranakan artistry.

And of course, it wouldn’t be a Cartier high jewellery showcase without some Tutti Frutti. The Tutti Karonda features two carved Ceylon sapphires – the centre stone an indulgent 17.09 carats, the one above it 13.55 carats – set in platinum and can be worn in several configurations.

In the end, Nature Sauvage isn't just a parade of precious beasts – it's Cartier at its most playful and precise, reminding us that wildness, when artfully rendered, is ferociously irresistible.
