ART STAGE, the flagship – and perhaps the largest – show of the Southeast Asian art scene, returns this month, celebrating the best of Thai art, the third edition of the Southeast Asia Forum, as well as the first edition of the Signature Collectors’ Visits showcase in Singapore
Since its inception in 2011, ART STAGE has established a pivotal role in the global art arena as Southeast Asia’s voice in representing the region’s artistic scene. For close to a decade, the fair has become a catalyst for drumming up international interest, as well as understanding and increased exposure of Southeast Asian art. As a result, it has heightened not just general interest, but market activity as well.

Interactions I, Special Country Focus: Thailand
This year, ART STAGE Singapore will extend a special focus on the vibrant and flourishing art scene of Thailand.
According to Mr. Lorenzo Rudolf, President of ART STAGE, “In the last one and a half years, a lot of new serious and professional art galleries have opened in Thailand, such as the MAIIAM Museum of Contemporary Art by Jean Michel Beurdeley and his son, Eric Bunnag Booth. And we will also be having many other big collectors such as Petch Osathanugrah and Disaphol Chansiri, who will be opening their own museums in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. Naturally, we have to pay tribute to this movement at the Fair by featuring many Thai galleries and artists, and planning spectacular museum-like projects with their leading local artists.”

Interactions II, Southeast Asia Forum 2018
This year, ART STAGE Singapore will hold the third edition of the successful Southeast Asia Forum, which aims to broaden the discussion of art through different ways of seeing, learning, and interacting.
The Forum is a thematic program that is comprised of an exhibition, as well as a series of lectures that offer more focused and in-depth views into global social, cultural, economic, and political issues that directly impact the region. This year, the Forum’s focus is titled “Art Meets Design: Cultural Trend or Fashionable Lifestyle?”
Meanwhile, the Forum’s thematic exhibition, “The Artling Collectible Design Showcase” explores the influence of the convergence between art and design on practicing artists and designers from different categories.

Interactions III, Signature Collectors’ Visits
Following the success of the Signature Collectors’ Visits inaugurated at ART STAGE Jakarta, Singapore gets its turn this year, allowing the host country’s renowned collectors to showcase their collections at their residences. Through this, the important role of an art collector is highlighted, encouraging and, hopefully, developing a more robust local art scene.
Held from 26 to 28 January, ART STAGE Singapore will be shining the spotlight on The Teng Collection by Teng Jee Hum, Samson’s Private Collection by Michelangelo and Lourdes Samson, and Nijkerk’s Private Collection by Mr. and Mrs. Richard Nijkerk.
