Patek Philippe and luxury retailer Cortina Watch share a special relationship. Over the last 50 years, Cortina Watch and Patek Philippe have forged a longstanding business relationship and personal friendship between Cortina Watch’s founding family, the Lim’s, and the Stern’s. Mr. Lim’s personal interest in rare handcrafts in watchmaking led him to build his own collection of artistic timepieces from Patek Philippe. Among these include the notable Dome Table Clocks, prized creations from Patek Philippe’s Rare Handcraft timepieces. These are unique creations featuring a multitude of different crafts in one object, championing the artistic technique of enameling. Three of the Dome Table Clocks that Cortina Watch have collected are intimately connected with Singapore.

The first is the Ref. 1677M “Esplanade”, created for Singapore’s Golden Jubilee in 2015; the second is the Ref. 20094M-001 “Bay of Singapore” that was created for the Patek Philippe Watch Art Grand Exhibition, hosted in Singapore in 2019; and this year, in marking 50 years for the luxury watch retailer since its founding in 1972, Cortina Watch is presented the Ref. 20145M-001 “Singapore Skyline”.

This unique piece, crafted in Grand Feu cloisonné enamel, features Singapore’s waterfront skyline. The picturesque scene is depicted in 50 enamel colors, while the dome features a cascade of fireworks with 50 gold stars, made with gold and silver dust.

Cartier x Singapore Watch Club

The Singapore Watch Club (SWC) is a thriving community of watch enthusiasts and appreciators of fine watchmaking. The young horological club turns six this year and in commemoration of its anniversary, collaborated with Cartier to produce not one, but 18 special edition timepieces.

The grand maison has always been a purveyor of shapes, having showcased timepieces of distinct design in the annual Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) in recent years, from the release of the updated Chinoise to modern iterations of the Tank Asymétrique, the Cloche, Bagnoire, and more. That said, the collectability of Cartier’s works of art have driven SWC to commission six of them: Cloche, Tonneau, Santos Dumont, Tank Asymétrique, Tank Cintrée, and Tank Louis Cartier. Each dial design adopts a uniformity of a silver-brushed dial with a blue minute track — with the SWC initials sandwiched within it and adopting the Club’s colors.

As six is the magic number for SWC’s anniversary, the “VI” numeral has been rotated upright, delicately expressing its significance. Each model will be produced in three different precious metals: Pink gold, yellow gold, and platinum — each indicative of the Club’s core values of passion, sincerity, and humility.

NOMOS Glashütte x The Hour Glass

Last year, NOMOS Glashütte released the Zürich Worldtimer Limited Edition with a special distinction to mark the model as truly ours. In collaboration with luxury watch retailer The Hour Glass, the 2021 edition of the Zürich Worldtimer adds Singapore to the dial’s city disc, aptly indicating home time via a little red dot.

The Glashütte-designed watch remains minimalist and contemporary. Simple shapes are used to indicate the hours, time is read via slim baton hour and minute hands, and within the 39.9mm case, the dial makes space for a small seconds counter with a concentric ring guilloche. The 50-piece limited edition is assembled with sandblast-finished gold dials, with an easily adjustable worldtimer display via the pusher at 2 o’clock. The sapphire crystal case back shows off the in-house automatic caliber DUW 5201 with a provision of 42 hours of power reserve.
