The Balvenie debuts The Makers Project, an inaugural exhibition featuring art pieces from six Southeast Asian artists whose works are inspired by Five Rare Crafts that The Balvenie distillery maintains in its whisky making process. The multisensory installation takes you through the makings of The Balvenie Single Malt Scotch Whisky, from harvesting to ageing, including how the barrels are made.
Alongside, the artist-collective showcase includes local illustrator Adeline Tan, whose piece was based on the tiger orchid manifested in a separated interpretation in the form of a paper sculpture by fellow artist Dawn Koh.
Priced at $28 a ticket, each entry entitles you to The Makers Project exhibition as well as two drams of The Balvenie Single Malt Scotch Whisky — the 12 year Doublewood and 14 year Carribean Cask.
Book tickets to The Balvenie Makers Project here. For the first 100 Portfolio readers, tickets are discounted at $8 off using promo code: PORTFOLIO8OFF.

The Macallan at Mandarin Oriental
Taking place for one night only on Thursday, 2 December, Dolce Vita and MO Bar at the Mandarin Oriental will be hosting an exclusive whisky pairing dinner with The Macallan.
Beginning with a welcome cocktail at MO Bar, the Boulevardier is a twist on the classic negroni using The Macallan Doublecask 12 Years. Guests are then brought up to Dolce Vita, where a gastronomical four-course dinner is paired with three selections of The Macallan’s aged whiskies — namely The Macallan Sherry Oak 12 Years, Double Cask 15 Years, and Double Cask 18 Years.
Starting with the Tartare di Manzo, the colourful plate is constructed with marinated beef tartare, citrus cauliflower and fresh homemade almond milk. A Double Cask 15 Years is accompanied by a generous serving of artichoke risotto, thereafter which a pan-seared lamb rack is served for the entrée. The Double Cask, typically aged in dry Oloroso sherry and American oak, respectively impart the spicy and sweets flavours, both of which allow the 18 Years to complement the smoked mashed potatoes and braised eggplant with the Agnello, before transitioning into the sweet mango parfait for dessert.

Martell Noblige
Martell continues to roll out its Swift Flight of Fancy tour in Singapore since the debut of the Martell Noblige in October this year. The three-month long campaign sees a series of unique Martell Noblige cocktails specially created by ten participating bars.
For the month of December, three bars join the extensive list. At Bar @ Lorong 13 in Geylang, the Fizzing Society cocktail is a good starter to kick off your bar hop. With the addition of muddled cherries and a cherry reduction, the cocktail is topped off with Prosecco for that refreshing glass of bubbly. Move into the quiet enclave of the NCO Club, where Nicola Paterno of Madame Fan creates The Aristocrat, a retro-inspired tipple made with an osmanthus-apricot mead, homemade osmanthus tea syrup, citrus, egg white, and a spray of absinthe to complete that botanical aroma. Thereafter, retire in the comforts of the Astor Bar at St. Regis, where a glass of Coupe de Foudre serves as the perfect wind-down. Head bartender Yvonne Tay reinterprets the classic Blood and Sand by displacing the whisky and orange juice with a shot of Martell Noblige and Cointreau.
In the spirit of celebration, guests who indulge in a Martell Noblige cocktail at any participating bars automatically qualify in The Swift Flights of Fancy Tour where they stand a chance to win a selection of prizes including a bottle of the new Martell Noblige.

Yamazaki 55
From the House of Suntory comes the Yamazaki 55, making it the oldest Japanese whisky in the world. 100 bottles are made for the global release outside of Japan, of which four have been allocated to Singapore.
The Yamazaki 55 is a blend comprising spirits that has been distilled and aged since 1960 at the hands of Suntory’s founder Shinjiro Torii who aged it in Mizunara casks, and thereafter by Second Master Blender Keizo Saji who aged it in White Oak casks. The result, a blend achieved by third- and fifth-generation master blenders Shingo Torii and Shinji Fukuyo, is a deep amber-coloured spirit, with notes of sandalwood and ripened fruit. One can expect sweet and bitter notes on the palate with a rich finish. Each crystal bottle is engraved with gold dust and encased in a bespoke box made with Japanese Mizunara wood.

Veuve Clicquot x Yayoi Kusama
Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama makes a colorful tribute to Veuve Clicquot's newest vintage, La Grande Dame 2012. Adorned with her iconic symbols: flowers and polka dots, Yayoi’s striking design perfectly encapsulates the bold vibrancy of the La Grande Dame 2012, a Pinot Noir blend (comprising ten per cent of Chardonnay) that’s derived from a 2012 harvest.
Pinot Noir has long been the hallmark of Veuve Clicquot's style, upheld by the belief that the grape has the broadest range of expression and potential to create the best champagne, according to Madame Clicquot.
The Veuve Clicquot x Yayoi Kusama design collaboration of the La Grande Dame 2012 is exclusively available at the Le Rouge flagship store as well as on the e-store.
