World's Top Female Golfers in Singapore for the HSBC Women's World Championship and Sentosa Attraction Preview

HSBC welcomed the world’s leading golfers to Singapore with an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience at Sentosa’s newest attraction.

Ahead of this week’s HSBC Women’s World Championship, World No.1 Lilia Vu (America) was joined by World No.3 Celine Boutier (France), World No. 4 Ruoning Yin (China), and two-time defending champion, Jin Young Ko (South Korea) at Sentosa Sensoryscape – a new, innovative experiential attraction which is soft launching next month in Singapore. Sentosa Sensoryscape will link Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) in the north to the island’s beaches in the south – opening up the essence of Singapore for international visitors and the local community.

“I’ve loved returning to Singapore this year, it’s an amazing place,” says World No.1 Lilia Vu. “It’s been really cool to have the chance to experience something new here in Sentosa, away from the golf course, with a peek at this new attraction."

The world’s best golfer will be looking to build on her breakout 2023 season, which saw her win the first and last Majors of the year, by now adding the HSBC Women’s World Championship title to her impressive resume. 

“My success last season gave me a lot of confidence,” the American added, "and I’m excited to continue to build upon that momentum this week by competing to take home the HSBC Women’s World Championship trophy!”

This week’s HSBC Women’s World Championship takes place at Sentosa Golf Club, February 29 – March 3. A stellar international field from 20 countries will compete in the 16th edition of the tournament. Of the 15 previous winners of the tournament, 12 are Major champions. This week, 15 of the world’s top 20 and all four 2023 major winners – will take to the global stage, cementing HSBC Women’s World Championship as ‘Asia’s Major’.

“I’ve grown up watching this event for years so it’s a dream come true to finally get to play it,” says Ruoning Yin, the 21-year-old Chinese star. "It’s inspiring to see the leading players in world come to Asia year in year out with HSBC, with so much history and so many iconic winners. Singapore is a special place and looking around here on the island, I can see why the players love this week. It’s my first time playing at the event and it feels a bit of a culmination of a long journey to get to play on a stage like this”.

Yin is an alumni of the CGA-HSBC China Junior Golf Program which has given 124,000 children the opportunity to get into the sport. HSBC continues to open up opportunities for budding young stars looking to make their mark on the global game this week. An array of Asian players has received sponsor invites, including 15-year-old Singaporean amateur Xing Tong Chen, who clinched victory at the recent HSBC Women’s World Championship National Qualifier.

The HSBC Women’s World Championship is a 72-hole stroke play tournament at the Tanjong Course at Sentosa Golf Club. Celebrated for its commitment to sustainability initiatives in golf globally, Sentosa Golf Club proudly holds the titles for 'World's Best Golf Course,' 'Asia's Best Golf Course,' and 'Singapore's Best Golf Course' as awarded at the 2023 World Golf Awards.
